2023 Annual Nursing Legislative Day at the Capitol and Legislative Conference
The annual morning session of the Legislative Nurses Day at the Capitol will begin at 0800 and end around 1130 at the Idaho State Capitol Rotunda and continue starting at 1230 at the Grove Hotel for the conference sessions.
This event is co-sponsored by the ANA-Idaho and the Nurse Leaders of Idaho nursing associations.
Morning Session: Nurses gather in the Capitol Rotunda where they can interact with Legislators. Information and talking points about issues nurses support and news about current legislation will be available. Governor Little has been invited to meet with nurses as he has yearly. This is tentative based on his calendar. Mid-morning provides an opportunity for nurses to attend committee hearings or to view either the Senate or the House sessions from seats in the gallery. This time ends about 1130.
There is a FREE registration ticket option for the morning session only. This is needed so we have a headcount of how many we can expect to attend (food order impact). There is NO FEE to attend the morning session. Any person can attend the Legislature and visit the Capitol Building without paying. This ticket option is commonly used by students who do not plan to attend the afternoon conference at the Grove Hotel.
Lunch is on your own.
Afternoon Session: This begins at 1230 to 1245 at the Grove Hotel, Riverfork Room, and is scheduled to end at 5PM. Seating is limited to 80 people.
Scheduled and invited speakers include Nicki Chopski, Executive Officer of the Board of Nursing who is asked to talk about the Board of Nursing Rules and their status in the Legislature; Representatives for the association's hired lobby firm, Michael McGrane, MSN, RN, Benn Brocksome or Peyton Nunes; Current Legislators, Leaders of Idaho State Agencies that offer programs impacting nurses.
