Additional Information

NLI has had many requests to offer this event which was cancelled for all of 2020.  With the new COVID-Delta case increases we have not had any restrictions placed on us from Public Health Officials as of Aug 4.  We are taking steps to mitigate any space and social distancing issues by getting a bigger room and limiting registrations.

1.  Seating will allow sufficient space for all attendees to be a minimum of 6 feet apart.

2. There will be disinfectant, hand sanitizer and masks available.

3.  Meals will not be in a public area.

4. Registrations will be limited to 20 people.

This 3-day program is targeted to new and mid-level nurse leaders.  Speakers are experienced and credentialed professionals.  The program begins with a personal leadership inventory that will help you identify your style, communication skills, and interpersonal skills and how they can impact interactions you have with others that you supervise or are your peers.  Then it builds on developing effective communication skills.  Day two is focused on Human Resource management, awareness of current employment practices and laws, conflict avoidance and conflict resolution.  The Idaho Board of Nursing presents the regulatory framework for nursing practice and explains the roles of the Board of Nursing, resources available to nurses from the board, legal  delegation of nursing functions, the duty to report, and answers individual questions about nursing regulation.  How to manage the impaired nurse is an important Board of Nursing presentation and details the disciplinary process, returning to work for impaired nurses, the roles of the workplace monitor (which may be you), and what managers can expect during a Board of Nursing investigation.  Day three focuses on developing budgetary competence, from understanding the types of budgets, budget variance management, and how to develop a staffing budget from the beginning steps.  Finally, pulling it all together using evidence, quality outcomes and leading in the workplace are presented.

This successful NLI program has had 148 nurses complete the course across Idaho.  This is a small group and informal setting with much time for discussion, questions and answers.  It is a good course for charge nurses, nursing unit managers and nursing directors who are in new roles.

Lunches and break refreshments are included.

All registrants will receive a computer thumb-drive (jump-drive) with all presentations and supplemental material included.  All registrants are encouraged to bring a lap-top for use during the course.

WiFi will be available through the Holiday Inn Express hotel conference room.

If you are planning to stay in the hotel, please ask for the "Nurse Leaders of Idaho Leadership Conference" discounted room rate. For hotel reservations call 208.345.2002 by August 19 to be included in the reserved room block.
